In keeping with the Safe Church Commitment of the Presbyterian Church in Canada we endeavor to maintain in our church a safe environment that is free from harm and harassment, where vulnerable individuals, especially children and vulnerable adults, are protected. As Presbyterians we are part of the one, holy, catholic or universal church of Christ; we recognize the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament as inspired and authoritative; and we accept the creeds of the universal church (such as the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed). Our heritage also includes the “Reformed” branch of the Protestant Reformation led by John Calvin in Geneva and John Knox in Scotland, and we recognize the need for the church to be not only “reformed” but “reforming.”
A Brief History: A small Presbyterian congregation was established in the Sackville area as a “preaching station” by 1843, but was not large enough to build a church until 1870-71. The congregation moved to our present location at the corner of Bridge and Squire streets in 1905, constructing a two-story building that has undergone several renovations since then.
